This Chinese restaurant is hands down the best in the DMV area! We have dined here multiple times and have always left fully satisfied. The food is delicious and made with the freshest and highest quality ingredients, with little to no MSG. The interior decor adds to the dining experience, and the service is consistently top-notch. We can always count on a great experience here. We can't wait to return and try even more dishes soon!
Dined here for the dim sum mainly. We started with a plum beer and iced tea. Only option was green tea. I'd say my honest review would be 4.5 stars and only for service. I think it could have been more attentive and more friendly and less about moving people out the door. Like the check was kinda brought before we were even asked if there was anything more we'd like. However with that said, the food was really delightful. The sesame balls were the best I've ever had. We ordered two plates! The beef chow fun was just ok? Kinda lacked flavor. However there was a spicy eggplant special which was truly divine! It was a bit spicy but I just avoided some of the peppers. It was seasoned very well and it was really stellar! We also liked the variety of shumai and dumplings we ordered. I dont know the name but one had shrimp and some nuts and it was spectacular. Likely the best bumpkins I've had. Really fantastic! So aside from some service hiccups I would absolutely dine here again. With a reservation we were seated immediately!
I loved Mama Chang, everything I tried was delicious. The restaurant was clean and aesthetically very zen. Service was incredibly prompt and provided everything we needed. I can't wait to go again.
The food was great. It was extremely busy and crowded, but we didn't feel rushed or as if the service was slow. I had the shrimp and asparagus which had large, fresh, and generous amount of shrimp. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and the sauce was tasty. The menu offers a wide spectrum of dishes for everyone and they staff were also accommodating for allergies and questions from our group. While it was fairly packed, there are dividers between the booths that help to give a more intimate feel for the table.
5 stars ALL AROUND. This has been in my list for a while now and we finally went this weekend! It was worth the waiting and absolutely lived up to the hype. Although we missed the full dim sum menu, there were still a few dim sum items on the menu that we were able to try! We started with the pork and shrimp soup dumpling, the port shumai and the chive and seafood pan seared dumplings. All three were 10/10. You can tell they were freshly made, packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. Of the three, the chive and seafood dumpling was my favorite! For entrees we split the combination lomein and the asparagus and shrimp with a side of dry fried cauliflower. Again, delicious. You could tell how fresh everything was and the lomein was garlicky, which was different and delicious. Although past the point of full, we ended our meal with the best, freshly made pineapple buns I have ever had. Worth every bite! The cherry on top was our waitress! She was attentive, helpful and kind. Every time she noticed our plates dirty between courses, she would swap them out. She helped guide us through the menu and never seemed rushed even though the place was POPPIN. We will be going back for sure - next time during dim sum hours! Highly recommend making reservations though, they get busy!
This is a neat place. Super clean. Great staff. Plenty of parking. Food: Very good. Love the diversity of the menu. Lots of choices and at different price points. Venue is a bit upscale. Nice.
Mama Changs is now a favorite. I can't wait to get back to try some of their other dishes. The food is authentic, delicious, and affordable. Our party of two was seated as soon as we walked in. We ordered four dishes to share: Hand pulled noodles with beef, Half Peking Duck, Pork Soup Dumplings, and Napa Cabbage with Tofu Skin. The flavor of the beef noodles is to die for. It's slightly spicy and packed with meat and two different types of noodles. Peking duck was perfection, with the crunch from the crispy duck skin. Of course, the dumplings and cabbage were tasty too, but I think I would have been just as satisfied with the noodles and duck. Serving portions are generous for what you're paying. I expected the bill to be much higher. Service was fast and friendly. There should be no issues with parking. Can't wait to get more of Mama Chang!
Came with my family, and the parking lot is fairly big. We didn't wait very long as we did come for lunch and dress attire is casual. We came for the Peking duck which is very comparable in terms of price to other Peking duck restaurants. Peking duck- GREAT! The wraps are the original pancake, but a thinner consistency and small but I actually appreciated that as I didn't get full as fast. They also provide two sauces for the duck, onion and cucumbers. Scallion pancake- I never had this before and thought it was really good too. My mom doesn't usually like curry, and she enjoyed this as well. The soup dumplings were also delicious and not overly salty as well as the Lomein. Wait time wasn't long and service was also great!
Mama Cheng is a decent Chinese spot. It's slightly upscale with good effort on the décor and the prices will reflect that. The waitresses were very attentive and the food came out relatively fast. If you're planning dinner on weekends, you should reserve in advance. 30-minute to an hour wait is typical for walk-ins during peak hours. The lamb skewers and cauliflower tempuras were my favorite. The duck is average. Fried snow pea leaves and mapo tofu are the dishes you must get. The tofu in mapo tofu is so silky soft that it feels like they make them from scratch. Please beware that their menu tends to be changing over time. It's possible that they no longer serve some of the dishes in the pictures you see on Yelp and Google. VERDICT: Good Chinese option for a not-too-often big family dinner
